Bedding in Procedure

To ensure perfect functioning and to achieve the maximum longevity of your RTS Europe Ltd

Performance Clutch, RTS Europe Ltd recommends that the clutch is allowed to “bed in” correctly

immediately after installation. This will ensure the friction surfaces of the components are correctly

aligned and mated for future use. Our recommendation is to perform positive and accurate gear

changes in the low to mid rev range for the first 750 - 1000 miles of driving with the new clutch

installed. This should be carried out during city type driving, or as normal driving as possible depending

on the circumstances. Certainly, racing starts and quick shifting should be avoided during the “bedding

in” stage.

Understandably, this will not be possible in certain situations, especially when racing or rallying for

example. However, whenever it is possible or practical, “bedding in” the clutch correctly will pay future

dividends in operational efficiency and product longevity. Furthermore, the modern materials used in the

manufacture of our product range mean it is absolutely never necessary or advised to slip the clutch in

order to “bed it in”. Induced clutch slip will result in premature degradation of the friction material,

ultimately leading to greatly reduced product lifespan.

** RTS Europe Ltd manufactures Warranty does not cover driver Miss-use of the clutch, damage from

downshifting, contamination at install, launching damage or miss-alignment.

Do not launch the vehicle, aggressively down shift or exert too much torque until

you have exceeded RTS Europe’s suggested bedding in mileage.
