Rolling Road Dyno
A rolling road dyno session is one of those things every enthusiast should do at least once. Not because you need a number to be proud of your car, but because knowing what it's actually making versus what the sticker says is useful information. Whether you've just had a remap and want to see the result, or you're chasing a power loss that's been bugging you for months, a rolling road dyno gives you facts rather than guesses. We run a DynoJet 4WD rolling road here in Irlam. It'll handle anything up to 1000hp and 200mph, so whatever you're bringing, we can test it.

What is a Rolling Road?
A rolling road measures the power and torque your car produces at the wheels. You drive onto a set of rollers, strap the car down and run it through the rev range. The dyno measures the force applied to the rollers and converts that into real power and torque figures. It's the most accurate way to see what your engine is actually delivering rather than relying on manufacturer claims.
Beyond the peak number, a rolling road session gives you a full power curve across the rev range, and that's where the interesting stuff is. A remap that adds 50bhp might be doing all of that at the top end, or it might be filling in a torque dip that was always there. The graph tells the whole story.
Rolling Road Dyno Near Manchester
We're based in Irlam and our DynoJet 4WD dyno is one of the better setups you'll find outside a dedicated motorsport facility. If you're combining a power run with a remap or an injector clean, we can run the car before and after so you have a proper comparison rather than just a single number.
Power run sessions start from £99. Give us a ring on 0161 776 0777 to book in.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference in power readings between a rolling road and a hub dyno?
A rolling road measures power at the tyres, so drivetrain losses are already factored into the figure you see. A hub dyno attaches directly to the wheel hubs, removing tyre slip as a variable and typically producing slightly higher figures as a result. Neither is more accurate than the other, they just measure at different points in the drivetrain. What matters when comparing numbers is knowing which type of dyno was used. Our DynoJet is a rolling road and one of the most widely used platforms in the UK, so your figures will be directly comparable to the vast majority of results quoted online.
What would you recommend before a rolling road session?
Come with a full tank of good quality fuel; shell V-Power or similar is ideal. Make sure the car is in good mechanical health beforehand because a dyno run is a proper workout and any underlying issues tend to show themselves under load. If you're coming for a post-remap check, bring any previous dyno sheets so we can do a proper before and after comparison. First time on a rolling road? Don't be put off by the noise. It sounds dramatic but it's all perfectly controlled.
Is there a rolling road dyno near me in Manchester?
If you're in Greater Manchester or within driving distance, then yes. We're in Irlam and have been running dyno sessions since 1989. Our DynoJet 4WD setup handles everything from a standard hatchback to a serious performance build. Worth the trip to know the numbers are right. Book in on 0161 776 0777.
How does a dyno rolling road work?
The car sits on a set of motorised rollers, gets strapped down and is driven under full load while the dyno measures what the wheels are putting out. If you're searching for a dyno rolling road near me and you're anywhere near Manchester, we're your best bet.
