Oils & Lubricants

Car engine oils play a huge part in keeping your VAG performing at its best. The right oil protects your engine from the first cold start through to spirited driving, helping everything run smoothly whether the car is completely standard or heavily tuned.

At Awesome GTI, we stock engine oils for cars across the Volkswagen Group range. That includes  Quantum Longlife III 5W-30 for compatible VAG petrol and diesel engines. Millers Nanodrive CFS 5W-40 NT+ is a popular choice with our customers, offering a fully synthetic formulation designed for modified engines and fast road or track day use. We also stock  Motul 300V Power 5W-30 and  300V Competition 5W-40 for performance applications. Choose the oil that suits your engine’s requirements and how you use the car.

Whether you need engine oil 5W-30 for a quick top-up or a complete service kit, you’ll find options for daily drivers and serious builds.

Choosing the best car engine oil for your car

If you’re asking “which engine oil for my car?”, don’t choose by viscosity alone. Your engine code and service schedule determine the VW approval it needs, and two bottles marked 5W-30 won’t necessarily meet the same specification.

Quantum Longlife III is a low-ash, fully synthetic oil for compatible VAG engines on long-life service intervals, including relevant diesel models fitted with a particulate filter. Motul 300V is aimed at high-performance and competition use, where higher temperatures and sustained hard driving place greater demands on the oil.

The range goes beyond the engine too. You’ll find Millers 75W-90 gearbox and differential oil, Haldex fluids and VBT racing brake fluid, alongside workshop cleaners and lubricants for jobs on the driveway.

Car engine oils backed by VAG expertise

Since 1989, we’ve seen what keeps VAG engines healthy on the daily commute and under serious load. To us, the best car engine oils are the ones proven to suit the engine under your bonnet and the life your car actually leads.

If you’re unsure, give our team your registration or engine code and we’ll help you find the correct oil. Order online for UK delivery or visit our Manchester showroom to browse the range.

Frequently asked questions

Which engine oil is right for my VAG car?

The correct oil depends on your engine code and the manufacturer's approval specification, not just the viscosity grade. VW, Audi, SEAT and Skoda models often need oils meeting specific VAG approvals such as 502.00, 504.00 or 507.00, so it pays to check your handbook or engine plate before buying. If you're unsure, look up your registration or engine code against the product specification listed on each oil.

What does 5W-30 mean on an engine oil bottle?

The number before the W tells you how the oil flows in cold temperatures, with a lower figure meaning it stays thinner and protects the engine faster on a cold start. The number after the W shows the oil's thickness once the engine reaches normal running temperature. 5W-30 is a common grade for modern VAG engines because it balances cold-start protection with the thinner viscosity these engines are designed around.

How often should I change my engine oil?

At Awesome GTI, we recommend changing your engine oil every 6,000 to 10,000 miles or at least once a year, whichever comes first. That's more frequent than some manufacturer LongLife or variable service schedules, but we favour regular oil changes to help protect your engine over the long term.

Cars driven mainly on short journeys or in stop-start traffic benefit from more frequent changes, as the oil doesn't get chance to reach full operating temperature. Your service indicator or handbook will give the exact interval for your specific model.

Can I use any engine oil brand in my Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT or Skoda?

Not quite. What matters most is that the oil meets the VAG approval your engine requires, rather than the brand itself, so a Motul or Millers Oils product with the right approval number will work just as well as a dealer-branded equivalent. Using an oil without the correct approval can affect emissions equipment, timing chain wear or warranty cover on newer cars. Always match the spec on the bottle to the spec your manufacturer calls for.

What's the difference between fully synthetic and semi-synthetic engine oil?

Fully synthetic oil is engineered for more consistent performance across a wider temperature range and generally lasts longer between changes, which is why most modern VAG engines are designed around it. Semi-synthetic blends mineral and synthetic base oils, offering a middle ground in cost and performance that suits some older or less demanding engines. For newer turbocharged VAG engines, fully synthetic is usually the safer choice to meet the required approval standard.
