034Motorsport Billet Oil Cap - EA839 V6 Engines (2.9T/3.0T)

At 034Motorsport, pushing the limits is part of how they develop products. While testing the limits of their Development B9 Audi RS5 equipped with the EA839 2.9T at elevated boost pressures, our testing uncovered a weakness in the factory charge pipe construction used on all Audi & Porsche EA839 2.9T V6s that isn't apparent under normal operating conditions.
As the pressures build in the charge air system with Stage 3 turbocharger upgrades, the thin, steel brazed flanges bolting the charge pipe to the turbocharger outlets on the factory charge pipe deform and crack. This allows for charge pressure to leak out, resulting in boost leaks that significantly reduce power. Once cracked, there is no reliable way to repair the OEM charge pipe, resulting in a costly repair bill to replace this component.
Rather than develop a full charge pipe replacement that offers no other performance benefits and comes with a hefty install cost, 034Motorsport engineers developed a clever solution that reinforces the factory charge pipe flanges using CNC-machined, 10mm-thick 304 stainless steel clamshells. By adding substantial structural support around the factory joint, the kit helps prevent the flange from flexing and cracking under extreme boost pressure, and tested to safely hold strong at 40+ PSI of charge pressure.
This reinforcement is recommended for all stages as a recommended preventative measure, and is especially valuable for Stage 3 builds applications where increased boost pressure significantly puts more stress on the factory charge pipe flange.
