Frequently Asked Questions
Which engine is the best for an Audi A2?
The 1.4 TDI, for most owners. The 75 has the better reliability record and the 90 is the stronger of the two. Both take our remaps and the RaceChip RS. The 1.2 TDI 3L is the most frugal but misses out on several suspension kits. The 1.6 FSI has the more troublesome reputation.
Which tuner is best for an Audi?
There isn't one tuner who's best for every Audi, so look for dyno-proven results on your exact engine. A map is written for the engine rather than the badge, which is why our PD 75 remap also suits the 1.4 TDI Polo and Fabia. We show you before-and-after runs from our own rolling road.
Why is the Audi A2 special?
Its all-aluminium body. Audi calls it the first compact car in recent history built that way, on its Audi Space Frame. The 1.2 TDI 3L weighed just 855kg and used only 2.99 litres per 100km. It was expensive to build and never sold in the numbers Audi hoped, and it's since become a cult car.
What are common Audi A2 problems?
Mostly age-related wear. Tired dampers, rear discs corroding from light use, wishbone failures on post-2002 cars and a notchy gearchange from worn selector bearings are the usual ones. The 1.4 petrol can suffer coil pack faults, and the TDI's cambelt needs doing on schedule, which our timing belt service covers with genuine or OEM parts.
