Our Dyno Cell is the highlight of our tuning facility here at Awesome. There are 3 main rooms that ultimately make our Dyno Set-up what it is.
Let’s look through each room.
Dyno Cell
Starting off with the ‘Showcase’, our fully bespoke Dyno Room, with our Dynojet 4WD Linked Dynamometer.
We have had an array of vehicles on our Dyno, and not just VAG. Daily driven tuned vehicles, track day rockets, supercars, and vehicles for software development. How? Our dyno has the ability to detect drive train loss, and can cater for FWD, RWD and AWD vehicles – impressive right?
It does this using a belt, connecting the two rollers which enables both front and rear axles to travel at the same speed – keeping it consistent.
How do we keep your car running at the best temperature and how does the air stay circulated in this room?
That is down to the Gas Extraction Fans, Main Extractions Fans and 15KW Fans. There are 6 fans in total, all with different jobs.
There are 2 Gas Extraction Fans which are placed on your exhaust tips. These take all the exhaust fumes away from the room, 2 either side of our Dyno Room – whether your car has Single, Twin, Quad, Dual or tailpipes coming out of the center, we can cater for this.
We then have 2 Main Extraction Fans; their job is to constantly recirculate the air – meaning fresh, cool air is always coming in.
Finally, we have our 2, 15KW Fans situated at the front of the dyno cell. These are to keep the appropriate temperature and conditions for your vehicle.
To control these fans, we do require the Control Units.
There are 5 Control Units in total, all controlling the separate fans. A very beneficial, and some may say crucial, part of this setup, is the Soft Start function.
Soft Start gives us the ability to bring in the electrical load gradually, regulating fan speed and it means we can simulate different earth speeds.
How much power can we measure?
The current dyno can measure up to 2000BHP!
Fan Extraction Room
The Fan Extraction Room. The ‘Workhorse’ room. This is the place where all the insulated pipework gets to work. They allow us to keep the conditions of the Dyno how we want them!
There are 5 pipes in here, as you can see in the below –
Starting off with the 2 outside pipes – they connect down to the 2 Gas Extraction Fans mentioned earlier. They take the air up and out of that room to keep it fresh.
Followed by the 2 Main Extraction Fan pipes, these create recirculation. When the 15KW Fans from the Dyno Cell bring the fresh air in, these pipes then take it out and keep it circulating.
Last, but not least, we have the middle pipe. This is the Free Flow Chamber. This enables us to keep the Dyno Cell balanced.
Now, as you can see, we love our little details. This is why this room turns red. When there is a car on the Dyno, we will turn this room red for a few reasons. It allows our technicians to know when there is something on the Dyno, along with anyone else in the building. Furthermore, it looks really cool!
Dyno Suite
We want you to have the most incredible experience whilst you’re here at Awesome! This brings me to our Dyno Suite.
It’s all well and good having your car on a cool Dyno, but what about you?
This is where our Dyno Suite comes in. Our state-of-the-art Dyno Set-up has been designed with you, the customer, in mind. It has been engineered for comfort and enjoyability.
Our Dyno Suite is a private room, with comfy seats, refreshments, 2 TV’s and a frosted screen.
We have one TV which is for you to watch what you fancy and the other one, which shows you your car’s live power figures.
The Frosted switchable glass screen is where it gets fun! You can see your vehicle on our Dyno, close up, in the safety of this room.
Coming soon, you will be able to hear from the technician that is running your car on the dyno, together with the info’ on the TV screen, you will be able to gain a better understanding of what is happening in real time and the reasons why! We don’t believe this level is offered anywhere else in the UK!
What do we offer?
We offer a multitude of services on our dyno -
Power Runs – This is where you can find the BHP and Torque figure of your car.
Tuning – We offer both ECU (Engine) and TCU (Gearbox) Tuning Services from Stage 1, up to Stage 3. We have a range of software providers, whether it be our own tunes, Racingline, APR, 034 or TVS.
Diagnostics – Our Dyno Cell is a safe environment for diagnosing issues which wouldn’t be able to be diagnosed on the road. Such as if the issue arises when the vehicle is under heavy load.
Anything else? - We have performed top speed runs etc, for IVA and other testing where it cannot be performed legally, out on the streets.
