The Audi R8 red-top is probably the most famous ignition coil in tuning - the pencil coil Audi specified for the R8 V8 and V10, now found far beyond VAG engine bays. Tuners fit them to everything: turbocharged 1.8T and 2.0 TFSI builds, Nissan Skyline RB and SR conversions, Toyota JZ swaps, Honda builds, rotaries, kit cars - anywhere a compact, powerful smart coil is wanted.
The Mantis MTP-1002 takes that coil further: the same R8-style red-top pencil format, re-engineered around a neodymium core delivering 12% more spark energy than the OE R8 coil - with the thermal headroom for mapped, big-turbo and track engines. Sold as single coils, so a 4-pot, a straight-six or a V10 buys exactly the right count.
> Stronger, more consistent spark under high boost and cylinder pressure
> Compact pencil format with built-in igniter - simple 4-pin smart coil
> Works superbly with standalone ECUs - Haltech, Link, MaxxECU, Emtron, Megasquirt and more drive it directly
> The standard choice for coil conversions and engine swaps
> Direct plug & play on all 06F/06E/06H/07K VAG pencil-coil engines
> The look: red-top coils under any engine cover
Format: R8-style red-top pencil coil, sold individually • Direct fit on VAG pencil-coil engines • Conversions & swaps (Skyline RB, JZ, Honda, 1.8T 20v and more) with the appropriate adapter/bracket kit for your engine • Standalone-ECU friendly (5V logic smart coil) • 2-year warranty • Every unit tested
