Frequently asked questions
Are Ferodo brake pads any good?
Yes. Ferodo Racing has a long track record in motorsport and the road and track compounds are developed to the same standard. The DS2500 in particular is one of the most widely used performance brake pads in the VAG community because it works well in real world conditions rather than just on a test rig. For a car that's been remapped or sees occasional track use, Ferodo brake pads are a proper upgrade over standard items.
What is the difference between Ferodo DS2500 and DS Performance?
The DS Performance is developed for road use on performance cars and is a step up from standard in terms of heat tolerance. The DS2500 is a more capable compound that bridges road and track use, operating well from cold while still handling sustained heat effectively. For a car that's purely a daily the DS Performance is a sensible choice. For a car that does track days or is driven harder than average, the DS2500 is worth the extra.
Which Ferodo compound is right for my car?
It depends on how you use the car. For a daily driver on a remapped road car, DS Performance is a great upgrade. For a car that mixes road and track use, DS2500 is the most versatile compound in the range. For a dedicated track car where the pads will be fully up to temperature, the DSUNO is the better choice.
Should I replace discs and pads at the same time?
In most cases, yes. New pads bedding onto worn or uneven discs reduces the effectiveness of the upgrade and can cause uneven wear. If the discs are in good condition a pad change alone is fine, but if there's any doubt it's worth doing both.
