Yes, the S3 8V reaches 60mph in around 4.7 to 5.1 seconds depending on the model year, with the facelift's 306-310bhp engine being the quickest of the range. Top speed is limited to 155mph as standard across the lineup.

How much HP can a S3 handle?

The S3's 2.0 TFSI EA888 engine is well known for handling big power on stock internals, with our own Stage 1 remap package lifting the standard 265-310bhp to around 360-370bhp. In Stage 2 form, many owners push towards 400bhp, while figures of 500bhp and beyond are achievable with further modifications. At that level, however, forged internals become necessary.

How can I make my Audi S3 faster?

A remap is the quickest way to add real power to an S3 8V, especially paired with an upgraded intake and intercooler to help the engine breathe. Coilovers and a big brake kit sharpen handling and stopping power to match the extra performance.

Is the S3 faster than the Golf R?

It depends who you ask. Official figures put the facelift S3 at around 4.7 seconds to 60mph against roughly 4.9 seconds for the Golf R Mk7, though real-world tests have gone the other way, with the Golf R's lighter weight sometimes edging ahead.

Are 8V S3s reliable?

Generally yes, the EA888 Gen3 engine has a solid reputation, though it's worth keeping an eye on the PCV valve and timing chain tensioner as the mileage climbs. Early cars used an IS38 turbo that's had documented shaft failures, so a health check is worthwhile on higher-mileage examples.
