Volkswagen Passat B6 Tuning & Performance Parts

Passat B6 tuning covers more ground than people expect from a family saloon and estate, partly because the engine range runs from modest 1.4 petrols right up to the 3.6 V6 in the R36. What's worth doing really comes down to which engine sits under the bonnet. The TDI diesels tend to respond particularly well to a remap, often picking up a noticeable amount of extra torque that makes the car feel less strained when overtaking or fully loaded. 

 

The smaller 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 TSI petrol engines can also be remapped, although the gains are generally less dramatic than on the more tuneable turbocharged models.

 

The Passat R36 uses a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre VR6, so a remap alone won’t unlock a huge power increase. For R36 owners, intake and exhaust upgrades are a more worthwhile place to start, while suspension upgrades can make a noticeable difference to how the car feels on the road.

 

VW Passat B6 Tuning and Styling for Ride and Comfort

The Passat is often used as a daily, so the best suspension upgrade is usually one that sharpens the handling without making the car tiring to live with. A quality coilover setup can still offer plenty of comfort, with options such as KW Street Comfort designed specifically to balance ride quality with improved control.
